Xen is one of the most popular technologies for virtualization. It is produced and maintained by a software ecosystem with the participation of several large IT companies. Some years ago they decided to use software development analytics to better understand some problems they had with code review. Since them, they collect and publish several metrics, helping the ecosystem to be more self-aware of the functioning of their development processes. As a result, participants in the ecosystem can make informed decisions based on data, monitor the effects of those decisions, and in general improve the overall coordination.
